Do your students struggle with writing? As a special educator I have found writing to be the most difficult subject for my students. Handwriting can be physically challenging. I created a writing intervention program that not only teaches students how to write at all different levels, but engages them with writing. My students were motivated to write and found success with these activities. Best of all, they had fun!

These writing intervention practice activities focus on uppercase and lowercase letter writing, name writing, sentence formation copying and writing, paragraph writing and editing, and more! Great for special education IEP goals or struggling writers as well as regular education students in grades K-3 depending on level.

Engaging Activities

This is great for young students and even struggling learners. I have many students who still struggle with letter formation and name writing in 2nd grade! It includes first name, last name, and full name practice. It also includes uppercase and lowercase letter writing practice for the ENTIRE alphabet. There is also an uppercase and lowercase assessment to track growth.

Not only does this include compound word practice, but it also includes word building and writing for short vowels, digraphs, blends, & long vowels! The students are asked to first stamp or build the word and then write.

My students loved this hands-on activity where they can first cut out the words to build a sentence before writing. This helped them tremendously with understanding sentence formation and to be sure that their sentences are grammatically correct.

There are tons of sentence writing opportunities. My students love the silly sentence writing. They think it is hilarious. This is a scaffolded approach where students are first asked to copy a sentence, then they are provided sentence starters. They are then given a picture for support. This leads to being able to write a complete sentence in procedural order where the first and last sentence are provided for them. There are also options to draw a picture and there are wonderful editing checklists included! Be sure to subscribe so that you can download the FREEBIE! My students have been incredibly successful with these activities!

As this program progresses the students are asked to ultimately write their own paragraph. They are given a prompt and a visual. They also are given an amazing editing checklist (YOUR FREEBIE) and a graphic organizer for each. This includes 10 different prompts. The best part… you are given 10 teacher writing prompt examples already done for you! Let’s get ALL kids writing this school year!
